FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP
“Keeping our College Students Connected to
the Church”
Orthodox Christian Fellowship attends 2010 GOA Clergy Laity
Congress
Fishers, IN – July 15, 2010
Orthodox Christian Fellowship participated in the
Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America’s 2010 Clergy Laity Congress in Atlanta,
Georgia. This year, Orthodox Christian Network, International Orthodox
Christian Charities, Orthodox Christian Prison Ministries, Orthodox Christian
Mission Center and Orthodox Christian Fellowship shared an exhibit booth.
Touching the World through Christ’s Love was the theme chosen by the
participating SCOBA agencies. This was a significant event because it allowed
all of the SCOBA agencies to come together.
This year’s
Congress was a wonderful experience - full of energy and love. It allowed for
OCF to become a visible presence in the Church, we had many OCF Students
participating by manning the booth, assisting with interviews, and expressing
their gratitude to the nearly 400 Philoptochos members by giving them an
individually wrapped rose. Continuing on their partnership to connect students
to the Church on Campus, Philoptochos presented OCF’s, Board Chairman, Fr. Mark
Leondis with a $15,000 donation.
The 2010 Greek
Orthodox Clergy-Laity Congress
Grand Banquet theme expressed how our students live in exponential times. The
banquet master of ceremonies and
co-chairman of the Congress Mr. Bill Marianes, went further to say
that now more than ever we need to help our students remain connected to the
Church. His Eminence Archbishop
Demetrios of America in his keynote, spoke of the need to open the doors to our
young people.
Orthodox
Christian Fellowship is the campus ministry of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Our mission is to
help our college students stay connected to Christ and His Church. OCF provides
our students with resources such as weekly meetings, regional events, and
internship opportunities with the other SCOBA agencies, transformative
programs, and a network of thousands of orthodox students from across North
America.
We invite you
