Orthodox Studies Center at Fordham University Offers Lecture By Orthodox Christian Poet 




April 12, 2011 -- FORDHAM, UNIVERSITY  --  The Orthodox Christian Studies Program and the Francis and Ann Curran Center for American Catholic Studies is sponsoring a lecture titled "Land of Unlikeness: Poetry and Prayer" with Professor Scott Cairns on Tuesday April 26, 2011 at 6:00 pm at the Duane Library in Tognino Hall of the  
Rose Hill Campus

 

Scott Cairns is an Orthodox Christian poet, essayist, and memoirist, as well as Professor of English and Director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Missouri.

 

Dr. Cairns is the award-winning author of six poetry collections, including Compass of Affection, a collection of translations by Christian mystics, a spiritual memoir, and numerous other works.   Cairns’ works have appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The Paris Review, The New Republic, and other publications.

 

The lecture is open to the public and all are cordially invited to attend.
