One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

Even though you may not be physically near a Church - that
does not mean you cannot remain activ
e in your Faith!

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

Easily the incredible relationships that were formed.

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

While the college years are obviously a time of preparation for
future profession, they are also, and more importantly, a
continuation of your preparation for the Heavenly Kingdom.

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

I give all of my students the same advice - as long as you keep
Christ at your center, when life is joyful, when life is stressful...
in all situations, He will always
take care of you and lead you to your next and right path and
although this sounds simple - this task may be the hardest thing
to remember.

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom.
For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured
back to you." (Luke 6:38)

Graduation

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

Don't get lost and be a floater. Make sure you are engaged in
something positive, what it may be. Inertia is a great detriment
to your physical, mental, emotional,
and spiritual health.

Favorite College Memory:

To be honest my favorite college memory was graduation
although I cannot remember whom the speaker was but I had
such a hard time getting to graduation that it was like seeing
the empty tomb!

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

You need to be a well-rounded student.  Grades are
important yes, but the friendships you make in college will
last long after anyone cares what you got for a grade in
biology lab.

Favorite College Memory:

A few of the Orthodox students
were involved in an off-shoot
of our Orthodox fellowship group that sought to involve
Orthodox and non-Orthodox students,
working towards

peace and justice domestically and internationally.
We prayed regularly for the many prisoners being held
in labor camps in the Soviet Union at
the time for practicing
their faith, and one day we learned of the release of some
of the priests we had been praying for.

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

Make your college years more than just academic education
in order to get a
degree. Use those precious few years to allow God to form
you in the many ways He will form you, if allowed:
educationally, but also emotionally, socially, and most
especially, spiritually.

Favorite College Memory:

My college memory did not occur while I attended college,
but has come true now as I to this day keep in touch with
many good friends that I made while we studied together.
Now we share our life experiences and discuss our children!

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

Follow YOUR dream, whatever that is, and let no obstacle
stand in your way of achieving YOUR happiness.

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

You'll never have as much free time as you do in college. Take
advantage of it.

Favorite College Memory:

These are not only favorite college memories but also
two of the best nights of my life period.

On RB Guatemala 2001, I had just spent a life-changing
week at Hogar Raphael Ayu Orphanage, it was
our last night in the country, and we were spending it in
Antiqua, we were there on what was a celebration of that
town's 400th anniversary. We were able to spend the time
decompressing from what was (at
least in my case) an
eye opening, and spiritually taxing experience. I bartered for
one of my favorite possessions, a wool jacket for which I paid
160 catsales (20 US$), spent some time taking in sites
and sounds, and just was with my fellow RB participants.

The second was the night of the Electro Active Polymer,
Arm Wrestling robot competition. Two of my fellow engineers
(and best friends) and I had slaved for
months 12 hours a
day in the lab to complete a senior design project and
enter it into the competition which took place in San Diego
California. Our robot only lasted 3 seconds, and we came
in last place, but the fact we were able to compete with only
a $750 dollar budget and accelerated timeline (we had to
finish our project 2 months in advance of our classmates),
it was a victory. The next day we were in various publications
like the LA Times and The Guardian
(London), and eventually
our story was published in Popular Science. The beer
that night tasted quite good!

One piece of advice you would like to offer a college student.

Make your education your own. You don't have to be at
MIT or Harvard to get a superior education. Create
your own opportunities, work hard, and give no excuses.
You have the power to do something HUGE!
