The UConn OCF web page will be active again with the start of the spring semester on Jan. 17. The downtime was in large part due to the changeover in Facebook group formatting, which deleted the account used to edit everything.

Thanksgiving

At our meeting this past week, we had a discussion about the importance of giving thanks as Orthodox Christians. At the end of the meeting, we read Father Alexander Schmemann's last sermon he ever gave. A link to the site where the sermon is hosted can be found below.

Icon Writing Class Offered at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Norwich

A few weeks ago UConn OCF members visited St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Norwich and after liturgy Grace Zazzaro informed us of an exciting opportunity being offered at the church: An Icon Writing Class!

The class is being offered on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month and will begin at 11:00 am and run until 3:00 pm. All materials are provided, but a free will offering will help pay for materials and support the church. Grill the Christian Event Well Received

On Tuesday Oct 12, 2010, the Orthodox Christian Fellowship at the University of Connecticut hosted its second “Grill the Christian” event at the Homer Babbidge Library. The event consisted of a panel of different clergy members from various Christian denominations, who in turn, fielded questions from the audience.

The panel included, the Rev. Fr. Serge Halverson, a priest of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), the Rev. Joseph Pensak, Reformed University Fellowship (Presbyterian Church) and the Rev. Eric Jeuland, of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

Questions included those pertaining to the Role of Women in the Church; Christianity and War; Ecumenism , Science and Religion; Homosexuality and Premarital sex.

Grill the Christian @ UConn

The Orthodox Christian Fellowship at the University of Connecticut is hosting our second "Grill the Christian" event at 7 p.m. on October 12 in the Class of 1947 Room of the Homer Babbidge Library. The event consists of a panel of different clergy members from various Christian denominations who, in turn, field questions from the audience. This is not a worship service! All are welcome and all are encouraged to bring plenty of questions for the clergy in attendance.

Our panel includes:

Rev. Joey Pensak - Reformed University Fellowship
Rev. Eric Jeuland - UConn Episcopal Minister
