Start A Chapter

No OCF chapter at your school?  No worries. It is easy to start one! The North American
OCF office staff and regional chaplains are  here to help.

Simply follow the guidelines posted below and we will be glad to welcome you to the OCF community.

Getting Started - A Few Suggestions:

  • Let us know at the North American Office that you are interested in starting a chapter. We will post a notification on our National OCF Facebook Page. This will alert Orthodox Students on your campus as well as their parents and priests. We have found this to be an extremely effective way of getting the word out for emerging chapters.  Email Christina Andresen ,Director of Chapter Development, at  christina@ocf.net

  • We will connect you with the regional OCF chaplain in your area to assist you in finding a local OCF chaplain, and connecting you to local Orthodox parishes.

  • Consider setting up a Facebook Group or Web Page for your potential chapter with local contact information.

  • Contact your  school's campus Students Activities or Campus Ministry (If one exists) Offices to learn more about the procedure for starting an organization and what recourses exist for getting the word out,  space for holding an organizational meeting, etc.

  • When you have determined that there is enough interest to form a local chapter, follow the guidelines below to officially charter your OCF Chapter.

 How To Charter A  Chapter:

  1. Download a copy of the Model Constitution [link to constitution]. Modify the constitution for your chapter. Use this to register your chapter as a recognized student organization at your university.

  2. Download a copy of the Episcopal Endorsement Request Form Letter [link to form letter]. Identify a spiritual advisor and have him send this letter to his hierarch, requesting a blessing to work with OCF.

  3. Download the Chapter Contact Form [link to form]. Select student leaders for your chapter, and fill out the required information on the form.

  4. Send a SIGNED copy of your constitution, the letter your spiritual advisor received from his hierarch, and the Chapter Contact Form to:

Orthodox Christian Fellowship

Attn:  Chapter Development

50 Goddard Ave.

Brookline, MA  02445

When the North American Office has received all three required documents, we will send you an official OCF charter and list your chapter as CHARTERED and ACTIVE on the website. To remain ACTIVE, you must update your contact information annually with your Regional Representative. To learn more about Regional Representatives, click here [link to regional reps page].
