Description: The Team will travel to the Emmaus House in New York. Emmaus House lives by the motto stated by Elizabeth Seton "Live Simply So That Others May Simply Live", stated by Elizabeth Seton and in doing so, tries to have something left to share with those in need: the homeless, the hungry, the poor, the suffering, the sick, and the dying.
Over 40 years ago Father David Kirk founded Emmaus House for such as these. Emmaus is a community of the poor, helping the poor (for no matter what we possess, we are all poor, for we stand in need of brothers and sisters). It offers assistance by feeding and clothing the neighboring poor both physically and spiritually, always remembering that each and every one of us is created in the image and likeness of God.
The Team will help serve the poor in Harlem and the surrounding NY city community by participating in the weekly travelling kitchen and working at the community food and clothing pantry. They will also do some cleaning and maintenance projects. While in New York there will be opportunities to visit local Orthodox Churches and Cathedrals from all Orthodox jurisdictions and tour Manhatten.

Registration Deadlines: There are limited spaces for each destination. To secure your spot, register online with a $150 deposit by December 3. Final payment is not due until January 21, 2011.
Cost : $ 920.00
This cost includes the transportation, lodging, meals, materials and sightseeing; however, it does not include the domestic flight to and from New York (LGA). If you fundraise over the trip cost, OCF will reimburse your domestic flight up to the overage amount fundraised.
Transportation: Each participant will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from New York, and e-mailing this information to realbreak@ocf.net. Please book your flight to LGA on March 12, 2011 before 3:00 PM and out of LGA on March 19, no earlier than 10:00 AM. You will receive more information as to where to meet the group from your trip leader in the coming months.
