Student Advisory Board Positions

Service Categories


  There are presently  two categories of service on the Student Advisory Board:

 

     1. Program Coordinators.
     2. Regional Representatives. 

 

  Program Coordinators are tasked with assisting the North American OCF office
  with coordinating the various National OCF Programs held during the course of
  the Academic Year.  They are expected to fulfill the following  ongoing responsibilities:

  • Communicate clearly, efficiently, and in a timely manner information to and from the Program Coordinator Chair, the Regional Representatives, your committee(s) (if applicable), and the North American Office.
  • Promote OCF programs to local OCF leaders, individual students, parents, parishes, etc.
  • Be aware of website updates and monitor or moderate activity when necessary.
  • Be the voice and face of OCF (be professional, ethical, and knowledgeable).

Regional representatives serve as liaisons between the North American OCF office and the OCF chapters and their parishes in their assigned region.  They are expected to fulfill the following ongoing responsibilities:

  • Connect students to local chapters and parishes.
  • Communicate clearly, efficiently, and in a timely manner information to and from the Regional Representative Chair, the Program Coordinators, and the North American Office.
  • Facilitate and guide the establishment and registration of new chapters.
  • Be a resource for local leaders, individual students, parents, parishes, etc.
  • Be aware of website updates and monitor or moderate activity when necessary.
  • Be the voice and face of OCF (be professional, ethical, and knowledgeable).

Outline of Student Advisory Board Positions and Responsibilities


College Conference Coordinators


Planning for the upcoming College Conference begins in April and continues through the conference which is December 27-31. Attendance is mandatory, including a preparation day on the 26th. The College Conference Coordinators are held accountable for:

  • Coordinating and conducting committee meetings / conference calls.
  • Delegating planning responsibilities among the committee members.
  • Aiding and advising committee members in their roles.
  • Communicating on a regular basis with the College Conference Advisor and the North American Office.
  • Overseeing the smooth administration of College Conference in conjunction with the Advisor.
  • Reviewing, updating, and compiling College Conference surveys.

Service Learning Coordinator


The Service Learning Coordinator assists the OCF Service Learning Director in the growth and development of OCF's service learning programs, particularly the Pilgrimage for Justice and Just Love. The Service Learning Coordinator is held accountable for:

  • Serving as chair for Pilgrimage for Justice and Just Love planning committees. This will entail the following:
  • Coordinating and conducting meetings/conference calls for both committees.
  • Delegating responsibilities among committee members.
  • Acting as liaison between these two committees and the rest of the SAB.
  • Working with Regional Representatives to ensure that OCF service learning programs are promoted throughout the different regions of North America.
  • Reviewing, updating, and compiling surveys from Just Love and Pilgrimage for Justice.
  • Providing helpful input to OCF Service Learning Director in shaping OCF's service learning programs.

Real Break Coordinator


Real Break planning begins in the fall and continues through the spring when the trips run from mid-February to the end of March. The Real Break Coordinator is held accountable for:

  • Gathering and coordinating the Real Break student committee who will help with participants' fundraising and travel reimbursements.
  • Assistingthe OCF Program Director in preparing registration, booking insurances, making reservations etc.
  • Providing helpful input to the OCF Program Director in shaping the Real Break program.
  • Reviewing, updating, and compiling Real Break surveys.

Witness Magazine Editor


Witness
is a quarterly publication which goes out to college students, parents, donors, and parishes. The editor of this publication will be held accountable for:

  • Gathering articles, press releases, etc. for publication.
  • Setting deadlines for submissions.
  • Contacting the Regional Representatives and other Program Coordinators for upcoming events.
  • Layout each issue of the magazine.
  • Proofread and edit each issue before it is published.

Headliner Editor


The Headliner is a monthly online newsletter. The editor of this publication will be held accountable for:

  • Gathering articles, press releases, etc. for publication.
  • Setting deadlines for submissions.
  • Contacting the Regional Representatives and other Program Coordinators for upcoming events.
  • Creating the Headliner issues using www.constantcontact.com
  • Proofread and edit each issue before it is published.

Website Coordinator


The new website www.ocf.net is a key component to the success and growth of OCF and its programs. Applicants with website design or programming experience are preferred. The Website Coordinator will be held accountable for:

  • Keeping the website up to date with the latest information and news available.
  • Making sure the website runs efficiently and smoothly.
  • Being available to answer questions from the North American Office and ocf.net users.
  • Ensuring that the correct people have privileges to edit website contents.
  • Coordinating with the other Program Coordinators to post information about programs.

Podcasts Coordinator


In conjunction with Ancient Faith Radio, OCF has the privilege of now broadcasting podcasts on a regular basis. Applicants with appropriate recording and editing experience are preferred. The Podcasts Coordinator will be held accountable for:

  • Overseeing a planning committee through email and conference calls.
  • Coming up with new ideas for podcasts.
  • Contacting Regional Representatives for retreat information to record speakers.
  • Communicating with the other members of the SAB and the North American Office for information and news that should be broadcast in a podcast.
  • Recording, editing, and posting podcasts on a regular basis.

 Regional Representative


An essential role in the OCF structure is its communication with its individual chapters.  The SAB Regional Representatives aid in this communication by maintaining a strong connection with the OCF Chapters in their assigned region. 

  •  Contact Information - collection of most current contact information for each chapter in your region beginning on or before August 1.
  • Regional Fall Event - facilitation of a regional event sponsored by a chapter within the region.
  • College Student Sunday - facilitation of and participation in College Student Sunday, which takes place the Sunday following the Elevation of the Cross.
  • Promotion and advertisement of National OCF Programs - Real Break - College Conference - Day of Prayer and additional events.
  • Regional Spring Event - facilitation of a regional event sponsored by a chapter within the region.
  • Transition - train successor and pass along pertinent information for a smooth transition in May.
