Make the most of your time in this world.

Real Break 2023

What are you doing with your life?

See the world how He sees it.

As Christians we say we’re not of this world, but you’ll (hopefully) be here for the next 80-ish years. What are you going to do with that time?

“ ‘Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.’ Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” Ephesians 5:14-17

Spend a week inspired and encouraged in your faith. Challenge your thoughts of how Orthodoxy is practiced. See the image and likeness of God in your fellow Real Break participants and the local people. Be transformed by seeing Orthodoxy beyond your family or parish community. It’s time for Real Break 2023.

Real Break provides college students (ages 18-25) with the opportunity to engage the Orthodox faith through trips of pilgrimage and service. Students travel during Spring Break to participate in the work of the Church alongside the ministries, monasteries, parishes, and people of each host city.

2023 Trips

Real Break California

Want to learn about our North American saints and Orthodox history in America? This pilgrimage is the Real Break for you. We’ll visit Holy Assumption Monastery in Calistoga, venerate the relics of St. John of San Francisco and Shanghai at Holy Virgin Joy of All Sorrow Cathedral, and tour Fort Ross, the first Orthodox church in the US built outside of Alaska. While in San Francisco the group will visit multiple sites including Golden Gate Park.

March 4 – 10

Real Break Puerto Rico

Are you ready to get your hands dirty in a service project? This is your Real Break. It’ll be a highly active week, for students who want to see God through service and the people who they will interact with. We’ll partner with Misión Ortodoxa San Juan Clímaco to serve the parish and Techos Pa’ Mi Gente to support in the aftermath of September 2022’s Hurricane Fiona. There will be plenty of relaxation too, with time at the beach and tours of San Juan and San German.

March 11 -18

Real Break Egypt

Do you want to get out of the country and walk in the places where Christ and the saints did? Real Break Egypt will take place in May/June and visit the monasteries of St. Anthony, St. Paisios the Great, St. Moses the Ethiopian, St. Macarius the Great, and St. Menas as well as the place where the Holy Family took refuge after Jesus’ birth. We’ll also take a swim in the Red Sea, visit the pyramids of Giza and the old city of Cairo, and venerate the relics of St. Mark the Evangelist and St. Athanasius the Great.

May 23rd – June 2nd
