The Real Break 2016 season is among us! Beginning this Friday and continuing through the month of March, over 80 Orthodox college students from across the country will come together to participate in service trips and once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimages hosted by Orthodox Christian Fellowship. This year’s trip locations include Constantinople, Jerusalem, Romania, New Orleans, Alaska, Cleveland, Guatemala, and Thessaloniki. With hosts from an array of Orthodox jurisdictions, Real Break 2016 represents the traditions of many and provides student participants the opportunity to bear witness to the beauty of Orthodoxy.
Though each Real Break trip does have a unique schedule, each is built on the four elements of OCF – fellowship, education, worship, and service. From serving in orphanages in Romania and Guatemala, to witnessing firsthand the beauty of our ancient faith in Jerusalem, Constantinople, and Thessaloniki, Real Break is a one-of-a-kind program built solely for our Orthodox college students. The Real Break 2016 domestic trips showcase OCF’s partnerships with her sister agencies, Real Break New Orleans with IOCC and Real Break Cleveland with FOCUS North America. While Real Break Alaska brings a focus to American Orthodoxy with visits to parishes from several jurisdictions, including Antiochian, OCA, Russian, and Greek.
One goal as outlined in the Real Break Mission Statement makes clear that this National OCF Program, “aims to prepare college students to be socially informed Orthodox Christian citizens of this world, while directing their focus on the world to come, the kingdom of heaven.” The 2016 Real Break season is among us and the Board and Staff of Orthodox Christian Fellowship ask that you keep all of the student participants and trip leaders in your prayers as they prepare to embark on their trips.
